Come see Santa Claus at Santa’s Scenic Train Ride on Saturday, December 11th and Saturday, December 18th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Many local animal shelters and organizations are sometimes forgotten in this special giving season. As a yuletide service to our furry animal friends, donations will be accepted on these two Saturdays of dog, cat, and general pet foods. Food should be of a non-perishable quality dry brand and must be unopened. For every 5 to 10 pound bag of food donated, $2.00 will be taken off of the regular ticket price of Santa’s Scenic Train Ride; for every bag over 10 pounds, tickets will be discounted half price. Prepare for a magical holiday event, as Santa’s Scenic Train Ride takes you to Point “Santa” Vista to see Santa Claus himself! Animal Lovers, bring your pets to see us and they get to board the train and see Santa at no charge! Pictures of Santa and your special child or pet will be available with the breathtaking Royal Gorge serving as a special holiday backdrop that you and your family can cherish for a lifetime. All pets and children will receive a free Santa treat. Hot cocoa and apple cider will be available. Most merchandise at the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway Gift Shop will be discounted at least fifty percent for your Christmas shopping convenience. For those of you without fur, be sure to dress warm! Pet food items received for the event will be divvied and distributed to participating animal shelters and organizations, such as Animal Welfare and Protection Society in Pueblo, the Humane Society Shelter House in Cañon City, and the Wet Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The Royal Gorge Scenic Railway is located eight miles west of Cañon City, CO off of U.S. Highway 50 on the road to the Royal Gorge.
